Terms of service
Last updated: 15 October 2026
1. Who we are
These Terms apply to every purchase from vintagemanualarchives.com (the "Store"). The seller is Jean-Louis Beek, a sole trader (empresário em nome individual), NIF (tax number) 308536444, Rua do Duque de Saldanha 601, 4300-197 Porto, Portugal. Email: shop@vintagefilmcameras.com. Phone: +27 83 261 1594. In these Terms, "Vintage Manual Archives", "we" and "us" mean the seller.
By placing an order you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms, our Refund Policy and our Privacy Policy.
2. What we sell
We sell digital files only: PDF copies of vintage camera manuals, instruction leaflets, dealer catalogues and books. Every file is a scan of an original printed copy. Nothing physical is shipped.
Each listing shows the cover, a description, the number of pages, the language where known, and watermarked sample pages ("Look inside") so you can check what you are buying. The sample pages are previews only; you receive the complete, unwatermarked PDF. Contents and condition of the scan reflect the printed original, including its age, marks and any imperfections.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in euro (EUR) and include any VAT that applies to the sale. There are no shipping costs. Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify using the payment methods shown there. Your order is accepted when the payment is confirmed.
4. Delivery
After payment is confirmed we email you a private download link, usually within a minute, to the email address you gave at checkout. The link is personal to your order and is valid for 7 days. Please download and keep the file within that time. If the email does not arrive (check your spam folder), or the link has expired, write to us and we will send a fresh link; we keep records of paid orders so we can do this.
You need a device that can open standard PDF files and a working internet connection to download them. Some titles are large (up to about 160 MB).
5. Right of withdrawal for digital content
As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium, this right ends once we begin delivery, if you expressly agreed to immediate delivery and acknowledged that you lose your right of withdrawal as a result. We ask for this agreement with a tick-box before you pay and record it with your order. Details and our additional refund promises are in the Refund Policy.
6. Licence and intellectual property
- When you buy a file you receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to keep it and to read and print it for your own private, non-commercial use, including printing a copy for your own camera.
- You may not resell, share, publish, upload, lend or otherwise distribute the file, in whole or in part, or remove watermarks or notices.
- Brand names, model names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to identify the products the documents relate to. We are not affiliated with, authorised or endorsed by any camera manufacturer or original publisher.
- If you are a rights holder and believe a file on this Store infringes your rights, please email us with the title and your details. We will review the request promptly and remove the listing where appropriate.
7. If something is wrong with your file
Digital content must match its description. If the file is unreadable, incomplete compared with the page count shown, or not the title you ordered, tell us and we will provide a corrected file or a refund. This is in addition to your statutory rights under EU and Portuguese consumer law, which these Terms do not limit.
8. Liability
We do not exclude liability where the law does not allow it (for example for intent, gross negligence or consumer rights that cannot be waived). The documents are historical publications provided for reference. Handling, repairing or using old equipment can be hazardous, and information in a vintage document may be out of date; you use it at your own risk and should follow current safety practice.
9. Personal data
We process your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Complaints and disputes
If you are unhappy, please write to us first at shop@vintagefilmcameras.com; we aim to answer within 3 working days.
In line with Portuguese law we also offer the electronic complaints book: Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico.
Consumers can also find information on out-of-court dispute resolution bodies on the Portuguese consumer portal consumidor.gov.pt.
These Terms and your contract with us are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your country of residence. Disputes can be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. The version in force when you place your order applies to that order.
